Fire retardant chemicals are commonly found in household items like furniture and electronics. But a new study found them in a place you probably wouldn’t expect: food.

Linda Birnbaum is director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. She tells host, Steve Curwood, about her study in which flame retardant chemicals were found in fatty foods like beef, poultry, fish even peanut butter.
